THE CASA GRANDE VFW POST 1677 SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM: DUE to POST 1677 MARCH 1st Current School year!!
o Is sponsored by the Casa Grande VFW Post 1677
o Awards scholarships for the post high school education or training at a recognized institution
ELIGIBILITY AND PRIORITY:
Preferred Applicant should reside in Casa Grande and meet the following for the program year:
Children of Servicemembers who have lost their lives in the line of duty. (Gold Star Families)*
VFW Post 1677 Comrade (In good standing) Spouses/Children/Grandchildren/Step or blood related
VFW Post Aux (In good standing) Spouses/Children/Grandchildren/Step or blood related
Members of JROTC or other military youth organization (i.e. Sea Cadets) sponsored by VFW Post 1677
Veteran Family (Spouses/Children/Grandchildren/Step or blood related) residing in VFW Post 1677 Area of Operation (AOR)
GPA should be a criterion evaluated after application is accepted and able to have a Committee deliberation on.
WHAT CRITERIA ARE USED IN THE EVALUATION:
In addition to meeting the eligibility qualifications, applicants must describe their future career plans, and demonstrate outstanding accomplishments in Special Talents, Leadership, and Community Service.
WHAT CAN THIS SCHOLARSHIP BE USED FOR:
Scholarships may be used for education and/or training beyond high school from any accredited institution, including:
o Certification or license
o Trade or technical school
o Two or four year colleges and universities
o Funds must be used in the school year in which they are awarded
o Total of award will not exceed cost of tuition, fees, books, and course materials for the active school year.
HOW MANY SCHOLARSHIPS ARE AVAILABALE AND HOW MUCH ARE THE SCHOLARSHIPS WORTH:
Scholarships will be granted annually at the end of the school year, not later than 1 May.
• Face value of each award will be one thousand Dollars ($1,000) unless specifically noted and approved by a 2/3 vote of the Committee.
WHEN IS THE APPLICATION DEADLINE:
The application deadline for the program is March 1st of the current school year. Application
materials will be available from the Scholarship Committee upon request and on the VFW Post 1677 website, www.vfw1677.org, in the fall of the current academic year.
